Snapchat Planets: New Friend Solar System on Snapchat Plus

Snapchat has introduced a new feature called the Snapchat Planets, available exclusively to Snapchat Plus members. This feature has already launched in 25 countries, including the U.S., France, Canada, and India, among others. You might remember learning about the solar system in school, where planets revolve around the Sun. Snapchat’s new feature works in a similar way. We will explore what Snapchat Planets are, their meanings, order, and more. At the end of the article, I’ve included a section of frequently asked questions (FAQs). If you don’t have time to read everything, you can quickly gather some basic information from the FAQs. However, if you have the time, I encourage you to read through to understand this exciting new feature fully.

What is the Snapchat Planets System?

Also known as the “Friend Solar System,” this system tells you who your closest friends are based on your level of interaction.

If you’re a Snapchat Plus user, you’ll be the Sun in this solar system, with your top 8 closest friends as the planets revolving around you. Your closest friend, based on the number of streaks or interactions, will be placed closest to you, and your 8th closest friend will be the furthest.

The process is the same for your other friends. You will be assigned as one of their top 8 friends, ranked from Mercury to Neptune.

What is the Meaning of Snapchat Planets?

As mentioned, in the Snapchat planet system, each planet represents one of your closest friends, ranked by how frequently you interact with them. The order follows a similar pattern to the real-world solar system.

  • Mercury is your closest friend (the one with whom you share the most snaps and chats).
  • Venus is your second closest friend, and so on, with each planet representing your 1st to 8th closest friends.

The positions of these planets change based on your interactions. For example, while you may be Mercury in one friend’s solar system, you might be Venus or Earth in another friend’s.

Note:
This isn’t a public ranking system. You can see your position, but no one else can view it.

Snapchat Planets Order:

  1. Mercury
  2. Venus
  3. Earth
  4. Mars
  5. Jupiter
  6. Saturn
  7. Uranus
  8. Neptune

How Does the Snapchat Planets System Work?

To use this feature, you must subscribe to Snapchat Plus, as it’s exclusive to premium members. Once subscribed, you’ll be able to see your Best Friend or Friend badge on your friends’ profiles. A Best Friend badge means that you’re in each other’s top 8 friends, while a Friend badge indicates you’re on their list but not necessarily in their top 8.

By clicking on a badge, you’ll see your rank in that person’s Snapchat solar system. This system showcases the closeness of your friendship, with planets representing the strength of your relationship.

Example:

Let’s say your name is Robert and your friends are Michele, Lisa, and Henry. You’ve shared:

  • 3000 snaps with Michele
  • 2500 snaps with Lisa
  • 1800 snaps with Henry

Based on these numbers, Michele would be your Mercury, Lisa would be your Venus, and Henry would be your Earth in each other’s solar system.
